OK so I pushed myself too hard writing a posted every day for this blog. My health wasn’t up to it and for the last month or so it took all of my mental energy just to write the blog post. There was none left over for replying to comments or emails or writing on my main blog or figuring out stitching pattern directions or …

So I started to resent the project I had tied myself. Knowing that once I had cudgelled my brain into writing up the project post, scanning and adding the pictures, editing and posting, my cognitive abilities were a seething puddle of useless pudding that screamed in pain for the foreseeable future.

So eventually I stopped.

I will start blogging here again soon. I do like writing about these projects. I do enjoy displaying some of these designers to an audience :)  But I will write at a slower pace, I will write on good days when I think I have adequate mental resources. I will give myself more time to read and respond and chat with you wonderful people who comment on each post before I put up the next post.

So post will begin again, they will unfortunately be erratic, but that is the nature of my illness. I will also interact more with comments.

If you want to put up a guest post here please comment below as I’d love to see what other people have languishing away in their blogs :)

Beer Dragon by X’s & Oh’s

Copyright Joanne Gatenby, X’s & Oh’s, 2011.

Chart: This X’s & Oh’s  chart is print on the inside of a folded A4/Letter sized cardboard sheet. The symbols are printed quite large so the fractional stitches are quite easy to see.  The design has large swathes of single colour to offset the fractional stitches.

Stitches: Pattern uses whole cross stitches, partial cross stitch and blackwork.

Materials: DMC stranded cottons and Kreinik #4 Very Fine Braid metallic. Stitched on Wichelt 28ct “Antique White” Jobelan.

Designer’s Notes: None. Part of the Dragons with Drinks series.

Why I was attracted to this design: This is the latest design in the X’s & Oh’s Dragons with Drinks series. I have had the Wine Dragon (White) in my stash for years and I love the whole series.  I’d love to stitch the whole lot and hang them in the kitchen or dining area.

It is a simple design, but I like the marriage of mythological creatures and food or drink. It’s been a staple  of art images for years, but I don;t know why it appeals.  Any thoughts?

So why haven’t I stitched it? This is a new addition to my stash, it was on sale so it slipped into my cart while I was putting an order together for items to give out for soon for RAKs and birthdays gifts.

Where can you buy it? This small chart can be easily ordered through any LNS or ONS. Otherwise you can buy it direct from X’s & Oh’s website. Expect to pay around $5.00 (US) for this chart.

Discussion questions:  Which is your favourite design? Beer Dragon, Wine Dragon (white), Wine Dragon (Red), Margarita Dragon, Coffee Dragon, Tea Dragon or Milk Dragon? Conversely, which Dragon do you think should be added to the list?
