A Project A Day – Counted embroidery work is my main hobby and I have a huge stitching stash. Some of these projects are huge and take years to stitch, and while others are quick projects, I often spend months without stitching at all. So while I have hundreds in my stash, only a half-dozen ever see attention any given year.  To address this imbalance in 2012 I will each day write about one project languishing in my stash.

Chart: This small chart is print on a folded A4/Letter sheet of paper. The symbols are large, clear and easy to see and differentiate. I could easily stitch this design directly from this chart without making a working copy.

Stitches: Pattern uses whole cross stitches and back stitch.

Materials: DMC stranded cotton and Weeks Dye Works cotton. Stitched on Zweigart 14ct “Parchment” Hearthstone Aida.

Designer’s Notes: None.

Why I was attracted to this design: Well the sentiment is just perfect isn’t it :)  And the composition is soooo Old Skool!  From the Aida, to the cute little scroll frame – where did she find that frame?

So why haven’t I stitched it? Another new acquisition into the stash late last year, i.e. since I stopped stitching regularly. I do want to stitch this one and I do want to do it Old Skool, so this will be stitched in DMC on Aida and framed over the scroll rod to be hung on the wall – that way it can be brought down and washed when it gets too dusty.

Where can you buy it? This chart is still in print and can be bought from your LNS or ONS for around $6.50US.

Discussion questions: It looks like this design at 94 x 45 stitches will fit comfortably on a piece of 9 x 13″ Aida 14ct.  What size scroll frame would you use to achieve the look in the cover and where would you buy it from?
