Opulence Gingerbread by Stitching Hearts

Chart: This Stitching-Hearts chart is printed on a single Letter/A4 sheet of paper. The symbols are small, but the chart is quite simple in design so it appears easy to follow. The design grid also includes a guideline to use to turn this design into a heart-shaped pinkeep or pincushion.

Stitches: Pattern uses whole cross stitch only.

Materials: DMC stranded cotton and Aurifil Brillo stranded cotton. Stitched on 32ct “Sage” evenweave.

Designer’s Notes: An intricate heart pattern to cross stitch in a spicy harmony to share at tea time.

Why I was attracted to this design: Another design I’ve been attracted to by the colour combination. It’s an elegant design but still has a sense of whimsy!

So why haven’t I stitched it? This is a new chart in my stash. I found Stitching-Hearts and bought this chart only a few weeks ago.  I sourced the Aurifil Brillo metallic thread shortly thereafter and it arrived today.  Now just to find some sage fabric.

Where can you buy it? You can  buy the chart direct from Stitching-Hearts for €4.00 Euro. The Aurifil Brillo thread if you want that, can be purchased from here for €3.60 per skein.  Or let me know in the comments below that you’ve purchased this chart, and I will send you some of my skein if you like.  It’s a 100m skein so there should be plenty of floss to stitch this design a number of times.

Discussion questions: I often find the hunt for supplies to be as much fun as stitching.  Do you enjoy looking for new supplies, or do you prefer to just kit up with DMC or something else that you have already in your stash?  I’m asking for your preference, not what your financial circumstances dictate – because hopefully our financial circumstances change for the better sometimes :)
