Feather Friends by Brittercup Designs

Chart: This Brittercup Designs chart pack is printed on a double-sided, folded A3 cardboard sheet. Two designs are printed inside the booklet with the communal symbol legend and instruction list; the third chart is printed on the back cover. The symbols are printed large, clear and easy to differentiate.

Stitches: Patterns uses whole Cross stitches only. As these are whole stitch only, these designs are perfect for one-over-one work or canvas work projects.

Materials: Gentle Art Sampler Thread cottons and Weeks Dye Works cottons. Stitched on Wichelt 28ct “Queen Anne’s Lace” Jobelan.

Designer’s Notes: The three charts are from left to right: I Luv My Bird, Cockatoos Two, Bird on a Limb.

Why I was attracted to this design: I love the Brittercup minimalist designs. I love parrots of all sorts. When I was living on the Central Coast of NSW, I had a bird feeder that was regularly visited by dozens of rainbow lorikeets, a mated pair of King Parrots, a pair of Galahs (pink & grey cockatoos) and a pair of Major Mitchells (white Cockatoos).  The Cockatoos in this picture are Sulphur-Crested Cockatoos.

Coincidentally I gave mum a bird feeder for Mother’s Day yesterday which we set up and filled with seeds to entice local parrots (I’ve seen King Parrots, Superb Parrots and Cockatoos locally) and are waiting for the birds to find and patronise :)

So why haven’t I stitched it?  I only obtained the Queen Anne’s Lace late last year and been in a severe stitching slump this year.  I definitely need to sort through my floss and see if I have everything to begin to stitch this. A very appropriate stitch at the moment!

Where can you buy it? This design is still in print and can be easily ordered by your LNS or ONS of choice. You should pay around $7.50 (US).

Discussion questions: Which birds do you see daily? Is there a design featuring those birds that you love?
