A Home is not complete without a Cat

And we are back to the red charts!

Chart: This Rovaris chart monochrome chart is printed very large over two A3 pages so the symbols are very easy to see and follow.  Unfortunately there are no overlap rows on either page, nor is the graph printed in the usual 10 point grid, so lining up the two pages is virtually impossible to do by eye alone.  You will need to make a working copy and fold or cut then tape the seams together to see where the chart edges meet.

Stitches: Pattern uses whole cross stitch only so it is easily adapted to one-over-one, canvas work or waste canvas.

Materials: DMC stranded cotton. Fabric information has not been provided.

Designer’s Notes: A home is not complete without a cat.

Why I was attracted to this design: Cats! I agree with the sentiment and I love the minimalist art style of the cat.

So why haven’t I stitched it? Although I have loved this chart for a long long time, I only finally purchased at the Online Needlework Show last year. As usual with these redwork or monochrome designs I’m paralysed by choice yet again. DMC 815 is beloved of so many European designers but it just doesn’t do anything for me.  So I need to change it to something else …. I just don’t know what yet; inspiration may strike someday.

Where can you buy it? Rovaris, like many of the European designers are not routinely stocked by many LNS in the US and UK but of you look around or ask your LNS or ONS they can specially order this in for you.  Expect to pay around $13.00 (US).

Discussion questions: What are your thoughts on these redwork designs?  Do you know why designer are fascinated with DMC 815?
