Seasonal Blooms I by Brittercup Designs

Chart: This Brittercup Designs chart is printed on a double-sided, folded A3 cardboard sheet. Each design is printed on one side of the inside of the booklet. The symbols are printed large, clear and easy to differentiate.

Stitches: Pattern uses whole Cross stitches only.

Materials: Gentle Arts Sampler Threads, Weeks Dye Works cottons and Crescent Colours cottons. Stitched on Wichelt 32ct “Queen Anne’s Lace” Jobelan.

Designer’s Notes: None.

Why I was attracted to this design: These two designs are labelled Spring and Summer. Such elegant designs for a seasonal series – so subtle. I like abstract designs where just a little line work portrays the feel of the whole piece.  This piece is not as minimalistic as some, but it is still a similar effect. Brittercup is more well-known for their Britty Kitty pieces, but I love most of their abstract pieces.

So why haven’t I stitched it?  I’ve only recently gathered all of the materials for this design.  The fabric and GAST threads were finally purchased last November/December. I’ll have to check whether I have the two Weeks Dye Works threads or the Crescent Colours Black Coffee.

Where can you buy it? This design is still in print and can be easily ordered by your LNS or ONS of choice. You should pay around $US7.50.

Discussion questions: Do you like these abstract designs? Or do you prefer your designs more realistic?
