Alphabet Barok by LiLi Soleil

Chart: This LiLi Soleil chart pack is printed over fifteen Letter/A4 pages. It contains separate charts for each of the 26 letters of the alphabet and one square ornamental motif.  Each Alphabet letter is 99 stitches high and 50-90 stitches wide depending on the Letter. The ornamental chart is 49 stitches square. The chart pack is not good quality.  The chart pages have been photocopied on a cheap copier rather than being printed fresh and the symbols are impossible to distinguish as individual symbols in many of the charts. However as these are monochrome designs, the charts are still able to be followed and stitched.

Stitches: Pattern uses whole cross stitch only so is ideal to be stitched one-over-one or as canvas work.

Materials: Stitcher’s choice of floss and fabric.

Designer’s Notes: None.

Why I was attracted to this design: I love the alphabet.  I can see many ways I can monogram a small item for a gift with this alphabet. I can also see stitching up my name or even GothTigger in this alphabet, it has the rich Gothic look to it.

A few years back I received a gorgeous little wooden box from Karen with an M monogrammed into the lid in one-over-one work.  So fine and detailed and I still use that box to this day!  I don’t have the skills to mimic that level of gift, but I thought some of my friends might appreciate a monogrammed item or even just a framed Initial.

So why haven’t I stitched it? This is a new addition to my stash.  I bought this at the April 2012 Needlework Show. Now I need to work out who (besides myself) to stitch it for.

Where can you buy it? This design can be easily ordered through your LNS or ONS for $23.99 (US). Alternatively you can order it direct from Dessins DHC for $19.81 (US).

Discussion questions: Do *you* like this alphabet?  If using black thread, what colour fabric would you like to see your initial or name stitched on?
