Hooked on Tea by Handblessings

Chart: The chart is printed in large clear symbols on one Letter/A4 page. There is only two different floss colours so there’s no worries with differentiating symbols. My only concern is that you must look to the cover photo for placement of the charms.

Stitches: Pattern uses whole cross stitches only.

Materials: Caron Wildflowers cottons, Weeks Dye Works cottons and charms. Stitched on Zweigart 28ct “Moss Green” Lugana.

Designer’s Notes: Tea should have a unique look of its own. Tea has a sophisticated sound to it, teatime and all. It also has a casual side to it, iced tea by the pool. It isn’t always brown; it comes in many different shades & colors. Hooked on Tea captures all the many moods of tea. This piece will look good in the home of any tea lover. Get yourself a nice hot cup of tea or a nice tall glass of iced tea and set it off to the side so as not to spill it on your stitching and stitch away.

Why I was attracted to this design: Those charms are sooo cute! I’m a definite tea drinker. Both black tea, but also tisanes and herbal teas. I haven’t tried iced tea yet; it’s not really a “thing” in Australia, or at least the societies I have moved in :) I don’t use any sugar in my tea so I’m not sure iced tea is for me anyway :)

So why haven’t I stitched it? I ordered this chart, floss and fabric last June when I ordered the same for Hooked on Scrapbooking to stitch for a friend for Christmas.  By September, the ONS still had not sent the order.  I did eventually manage to obtain, kit up and stitch Hooked on Scrapbooking, but I haven’t yet found the fabric for this one.

Where can you buy it? Handblessings are a little more difficult to find, but they can be specially ordered in by your LNS or ONS. Chart usually retails for $12.00 (US).

Discussion questions:  What do you reckon? Continue to hunt down the Zweigart Moss Green Lugana?  I really didn’t think a Zweigart would be that hard to come by!  Or change and substitute a different colour?  These don’t really seem like tea colours ….
