Season's Sampler by Vintage Bliss Designs

Chart: Vintage Bliss offer a great presentation for their charts; from the ribbon entwined through the front cover sheet to the velcro to hold the booklet shut. The booklet is one folded A4/Letter cardboard sheet and five sheets of paper to make a 24 page booklet. The symbols are printed large enough and with enough difference to be easily seen and easily differentiated. However the chart is printed in 20 sections with no overlap to assist in lining up the section pieces.  Also the designer does not give permission for a working copy to be made.

Stitches: Pattern uses whole cross stitches, fractional stitches, backstitch, Algerian eyelets and beads.

Materials: DMC stranded cottons, Gentle Art cottons, Needle Necessities cottons, Weeks Dye Works cottons and Mill Hill beads. Stitched on Zweigart 32ct “Cream” linen.

Designer’s Notes: A beautiful sampler with every season of the year. Glorious fall and green colors adorn the leaves and a deep variegated thread for very realistic trees. Four different alphabets and four ornate medieval corners finish this truly unique sampler.

Why I was attracted to this design: I love Vintage Bliss designs. There was a craze for a while of stitching up seasons samplers with different trees; this was the pattern I loved in that style.

So why haven’t I stitched it? Like most of the stitching crazes, by the time I actually picked my pattern and got it mostly kitted up, everyone else had theirs stitched and moved on to the next craze.  I had other Vintage Bliss charts I loved more so this one kinda ended up forgotten about. Time I got it out and started it – it really is a beautiful design!

Where can you buy it? Although Vintage Bliss have completely closed business, this one for some reason, has been released through Patterns Online.  It sells for $8.99 (US). I hope they released more designs through there.

Discussion questions:  What’s your favourite four season’s sampler and have you finished stitching it yet?
