Touch of the Wilderness by Brittercup Designs

Chart: This Brittercup Designs chart pack is printed on a double-sided, folded A3 cardboard sheet. The larger design and is printed inside the booklet with the communal symbol legend and instruction list; the smaller chart is printed on the back cover. The symbols are printed large and easy to differentiate. The only quibble I have is that the symbols for the foliage are printed too light for my taste, I would have preferred these symbols to be printed in darker shades.

Stitches: Patterns uses whole Cross stitches only. As these are whole stitch only, these designs are perfect for one-over-one work or canvas work projects.

Materials: Gentle Art Sampler Thread cottons. Stitched on Wichelt 32ct “Queen Anne’s Lace” Jobelan.

Designer’s Notes: The two charts are from left to right: Buck, and, On the Hunt.

Why I was attracted to this design: I love the Brittercup minimalist designs. I love that Michelle has expanded from the Britty Kittys into a whole range of other animals.  I love the look of the stag, fox and mouse in these two charts.

So why haven’t I stitched it?  As previously discussed, I have a huge chart stash, and a fairly decent floss stash, but until very recently I have had a very poor fabric stash.  I was in the Silkweaver Floss of the Month club for a year and I have some pretty funky hand dyed solos, but I had very few Zweigart or Wichelt fabrics.

I did purposefully buy a fat half of 28ct and 32ct Queen Anne’s Lace late last year specifically so I can stitch these designs soon!

Where can you buy it? This design is still in print and can be easily ordered by your LNS or ONS of choice. You should pay around $7.50 (US).

Discussion questions: Which animal/bird/fish would you like to see Brittercup do in her inimitable style?
