Chart: The chart is printed in an 16 page A4/Letter sized stapled booklet including cardboard cover. The chart itself  covers eight pages with a two-row overlap on succeeding pages. This is an older chart, so although the symbols are large, they are quite similar and used adjacent. They do provide a full page of instructions how to complete each of the different types of stitch used in the design.

Stitches: Pattern uses whole cross stitches and backstitch.

Materials: DMC stranded cotton. Stitched one over one on Zweigart 18ct “Black” Aida.

Designer’s Notes: None.

Why I was attracted to this design: I bought this chart so long ago. At the time there were so few serious fantasy charts on the markets that I bought every chart I could find when I managed to visit a cross stitch store.

So why haven’t I stitched it? I bought the chart due to a dearth of charts in the fantasy field at that time. I wasn’t a fan of photo to cross stitch conversions, especially ones like these that look so pixellated, but there was nothing else at the time like this, so I bought the whole series. But frankly, I never liked it enough to actually kit it up and start stitching.  I have a large enough stash that I will never actually stitch this design or the others in this series.

I’m giving this one away.  If you are interested in the chart, leave a comment telling me what you love about the chart, and how you found this blog. If more than one person responds, I’ll choose a winner in a week.

Where can you buy it? This chart is long out of print. There are several copies currently selling on various auction sites as well as eBay.com

Discussion questions: This design is to be stitched one over one on black 18ct Aida.  If you were to stitch this design, would you stitch it this way, or would you stitch it another way?

On 18 ct black I would go 2 over 1. I don’t like the coverage of 1 over 1 on 18. Seems ok on 22ct, but not 18.

I love the look on his face. “Sure…you can swin here. By the way, the water is nicer on this side.”

You are both right – he does have a mischevious twinkle in his eye :) I missed that!

I am not interested in the pattern. I am leaving a note to saw that the dragon reminds me of Draco, which was voiced by Sean Connery, in the movie by the same name (I think).
