Winter Bouquet by Alessandra Adelaide

Chart: Alessandra Adelaide chart is printed over four A4/Letter sheets. Unfortunately there are no overlap rows between each of the sheets. The symbols are easy to see but unfortunately two of them are quite similar being a filled triangle, just pointed in different directions. As there are only six symbols used throughout the entire design, I would have preferred a little more differentiation in the symbol selection.  I purchased this chart as a PDF, so I can easily enlarge each section to more easily see between the two similar symbols.

Stitches: Pattern uses whole cross stitch only. This design can easily be stitched one-over-one or as canvas work.

Materials: DMC stranded cotton. Fabric is not listed, but from other Alessandra Adelaide designs in my stash I assume it would be Zweigart 28ct “White” linen.

Designer’s Notes: None.

Why I was attracted to this design: To be honest, the fabric.  I really honestly thought this was some kind of hand dyed fabric that looked like a crackle-glazed paint canvas and I *wanted it*!

So why haven’t I stitched it? Twas extremely disappointed to learn that this and a lot of other interesting looking backgrounds of Alessandra Adelaide’s are nothing more than glitches in computer design.  This is a well-learned object lesson in why you should really see a copy of the design stitched before you plunk your hard-earned cash out for the design!!!

However I decided a while ago that I would try to stitch this one using Wichelt 28ct “Potato” Lugana which has a

Where can you buy it? Alessandra Adelaide charts are stocked by quite a number of LNS and ONS so you should be able to pick this one up quite easily for around $8.66 (US). Otherwise you can do as I did and buy the PDF chart direct from Alessandra Adelaide for €6.50 (Euro).

Discussion questions: Have you seen something in a cover picture that simply wasn’t there in the real chart?  Were you disappointed or was the chart even better than the cover picture implied?
